Apprenticeships combine practical training in a job with study.

An apprentice will:

Apprenticeships take 1 to 4 years to complete depending on their level.

Levels of apprenticeship

Apprenticeships have equivalent educational levels.

Who can apply

You can apply for an apprenticeship while you’re still at school. To start one, you’ll need to be:

At any one time there are up to 28,000 apprenticeship vacancies available online in a variety of careers and industries across England. Visit
You can search by keyword (job role, occupation type or apprenticeship level) and by location.
Once the right job comes up, you can simply register on the website and follow the step by step instructions to apply for the role.

Pay and conditions

An apprentice is entitled to the National Minimum Wage. Check here for ehe current minimum wage rate.

They must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age.

HABS offers a single point of contact for all your apprenticeship needs. There are 1500 job roles covered by an apprenticeship and they can help with every single one. Providing impartial, free of charge support for your business.

HABS tell you everything you need to know about apprenticeships but we won’t drown you in information. Instead we’ll listen, we’ll answer any questions you have and we’ll share information that is relevant.
